Prior to Gulpie, Sunil Tej led consumer product management and growth at early stage startups. Since he started his professional journey in 2011, Sunil has worked with 6 startups across Germany, UK, India and Africa. Today, he's focused on building Gulpie, a company that's on a mission to democratise building trust in discovery and give back the value created to its creators.

Previously, Sunil was the first product/growth hire at HackerRank, India's first YCombinator (S11) startup. There, he built 100+ Hacker Clubs by starting a campus ambassador program to help acquire the first 200,000 programmers. During this time, Sunil also conceptualised the first version of the gamification system to boost developer engagement and coined 'Hackos', points earned by solving programming challenges on HackerRank.

As his last stint before founding Gulpie, Sunil worked at Juniqe (Berlin), Europe's largest art ecommerce site, where he was the second product hire - helped scale the site to $25m ARR. Other startups Sunil worked with include Cuponation (Munich), a Rocket Internet venture that is one of the world's leading couponing sites; Propertyflock (London), a marketplace for realtors and property seekers; and New Rubric (Bengaluru), a personalised teaching and learning management solution for school teachers to assess cognitive abilities of students.

Sunil graduated from VIT University (Vellore) with a Bachelor's in Information Technology.
